About Heritage on Wheels
With the phenomenal success of the Palace on Wheels, the Rajasthan Tourism
Development Corporation along with Indian Railways and the Indian Government
presents yet another luxury train for those tourists who are desirous of
exploring the exotic interiors of Rajasthan. The train provides the same
luxurious treatment that is accorded to passengers of the Palace on Wheels.
The facilities and the environment aboard the Heritage on Wheels are quiet
similar to that of the Palace on Wheels.
However, given so many similarities, there are certain differences as well.
Firstly the destinations covered by this train are different from that of
the Palace on Wheels. Tourists are taken to a tour of what is known as the
'open air art gallery of Rajasthan'- the Shekhawati region. Also, what
seperates the Heritage on Wheels with the Palace on Wheels is the number of
days provided for tour. Whereas it is 8 days and 7 nights in the Palace on
Wheels, it is just 4 days and 3 nights in the Heritage on Wheels. This means
that tourists who have lesser time on hand can also enjoy the luxury of the
royal people while exploring Rajasthan. Moreover, it means that the cost
incurred on this trip is much less than that of the Palace on Wheels.
The Heritage on Wheels has started functioning from 17th Feb, 2006.
