About Jaipur
The capital city of the Rajasthan is the starting pointof a royal journey
aboard Heritage on Wheels Train.
Founded by Sawai Jai Singh in the year 1727, Jaipur is a classic
exemplification of the desire of the erstwhile Maharajas to do something
extraordinary. Maharaja Jai Singh took special interest in the designing of
this city himself. Jaipur was segregated into nine blocks out of which two
were specifically reserved for the City Palace Complex and other state
official buildings while the other seven were given away for public
utilisation. The city was bordered by a wall which had seven gates at
different points. The colour pink was used in abundance giving a lovely
romantic look to the city.
Today, the city has progressed a lot from being a city of Maharajas to a
modern tourist destination. Still, the royal charm doesnt seem to
leave it. Even in the day to day life, there are ample suggestions of a past
that was glorious and graceful at the same time.
